On The Grid

Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2026

Welcome to On the Grid ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our social connection application and related services ("On the Grid," or the "Services").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information:

When you create an account, we collect information such as your name, email address, and phone number. By providing this information, you consent to receive communications from On the Grid and it's related representatives via email or SMS as described in this Policy.

Profile Information:

You may provide additional details for your profile, including photos, age, gender, location, social media information, personal interests, and a biography description. Depending on available features, you may also view, upload, or share media or other content related to venues, events, or user activity within On the Grid.

Communication Data:

We collect and process information exchanged within On the Grid to enable messaging, matching, and community interactions. This includes:

  • Direct messages and interactions between users (text, media, emojis, reactions, and other in-app content).
  • Metadata such as timestamps, message engagement, and participant identifiers.
  • In-app actions related to communication
  • Report or moderation data

We use this data to operate and secure our communication systems, detect and prevent abuse or spam, improve conversational experiences, and to support new features.

We do not sell or publicly display private communications. Access to message content is strictly limited to systems or personnel necessary to maintain platform safety and compliance, and the development of new features.

Device & Usage Information:

When you access On the Grid, we automatically collect technical and behavioral information about your device and activity to help us operate, secure, and improve our Services. This may include:

  • Device identifiers (such as device ID, advertising ID, IP address, and operating system type/version).
  • System and network information (mobile carrier, language settings, app version, crash logs, and performance data).
  • Interaction and engagement data, such as:
    • Screens viewed, buttons or links tapped, session duration, and navigation flows
    • Media viewed, messages opened or sent, profile interactions, likes, and shares
    • Time spent in-app, feature usage frequency, and general engagement patterns

We may also use cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies (like Firebase, Meta Ads, and Branch) to analyze trends, measure campaign performance, and understand how users interact with our app.

This data allows us to:

  • Improve app reliability, design, and recommendations
  • Detect bugs, prevent fraud, and enhance security
  • Personalize your in-app experience and suggest relevant venues or matches
  • Measure and optimize user engagement and growth performance

We retain aggregated and anonymized usage data for analytics and business insights but never sell individual user activity or device-level information to third parties.

2. How We Use Your Information

Providing Services:

We use your information to operate, maintain, and improve On the Grid's social features, including user matching, venue recommendations, reservations, and event discovery.

Personalization:

Your data helps us tailor your experience — recommending relevant people, places, and events based on your interactions, preferences, and saved venues.

Communication:

We use your information to facilitate communication between users and to send notifications such as match alerts, account verifications, password resets, security updates, feature changes, and other service-related notices.

If you contact us via in-app form or email, we collect the information you provide so we can respond to your request.

Analytics:

We analyze aggregated and anonymized usage data to understand engagement, improve app performance, enhance safety, and develop new features.

Marketing & Promotions:

We may send you promotional or informational messages via email, text, or in-app notifications, including feature updates, event invitations, venue highlights, or partner offers.

By creating an account, you agree to receive both transactional (e.g., password resets, reservation confirmations, match notifications) and promotional messages.

You can opt out of promotional emails by clicking "unsubscribe" or opt out of SMS by replying "STOP." Opting out will not affect important service-related or security communications.

You can manage your preferences at any time as described in the Your Choices section below.

Partners & Integrations:

We may share limited, non-sensitive data with trusted partners that help deliver or enhance our services — such as event access, venue bookings, analytics, or content integrations.

Partners process data under their own privacy policies, and we require them to use it only for legitimate operational purposes.

Legal Compliance, Safety, and Research

To comply with law:

We may use or disclose your personal information where it is necessary or appropriate to comply with applicable laws, regulations, lawful requests, or other legal processes — including responding to subpoenas, court orders, or government inquiries.

For compliance, fraud prevention, and safety:

We may use data to (a) protect the rights, privacy, safety, or property of On the Grid, our users, or others (including by investigating and defending legal claims); (b) enforce our Terms of Use and other agreements; and (c) detect, prevent, and respond to fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, or illegal activity.

Research and development:

We may create and use aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified information to analyze the effectiveness of our Services, develop new features, and study general user trends and behaviors.

This data may be shared with trusted partners for lawful business purposes, but it cannot be used to identify you personally.

3. Data Sharing and Third-Party Service Providers

We do not sell, rent, license, or lease your personal data to anyone.

However, we work with carefully selected third parties who help us operate, improve, and secure On the Grid. These partners may access limited information solely to perform tasks on our behalf and are bound by strict confidentiality and data-protection obligations.

Examples of third-party categories we use include:

  • Hosting and cloud infrastructure – secure data storage and content delivery (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Analytics and performance monitoring – understanding app usage, engagement, and crash diagnostics (e.g., Firebase, Amplitude).
  • Product engineering & design tools – supporting feature development, QA, and design systems.
  • User account & authentication services – sign-in, password management, or identity verification.
  • Communication and marketing tools – sending emails, push notifications, or SMS updates
  • Customer support and moderation systems – responding to user inquiries and maintaining community safety.

We share data with these vendors only to the extent necessary for them to perform their functions and never authorize them to use it for their own marketing or purposes outside our instructions.

All third-party processors are required to:

  • handle information in accordance with applicable privacy laws;
  • maintain appropriate technical and organizational security measures; and
  • delete or return data once their services are complete.

Retention of Information

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy — typically for the duration of your account plus a reasonable period to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

Aggregated or de-identified data may be retained indefinitely for analytics, research, and business insights.

4. Your Choices

Profile Settings:

You can edit or delete your profile information at any time through your account settings.

Notification & Marketing Preferences:

You may manage app notifications and opt out of promotional emails or texts as described above. Opting out will not affect essential transactional or security communications.

5. Data Security & Retention

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure.

While we take reasonable precautions, no system is entirely secure, and you share information at your own risk.

If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except as required for legal or legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention, compliance).

6. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features, legal changes, or marketing practices.

Significant updates — such as the introduction of new communication channels or partner integrations — may be communicated via email, SMS, or in-app notifications.
